Wheelie Bin Shortage Hits Recycling Plans
If this had been the 1st of April I would have laughed at the news item I just heard on tv. Apparently, due to the fact that the UK no longer seems to remember how to make things for itself, we are being hit by an international shortage of wheelie bins and local authorities in the UK are now on waiting lists for bins from the German manufacturer!
We are constantly being asked to consider the environment, do our ‘green’ thing, recycle and so on. Now it would seem that we are going to have to put on hold several recycling schemes because of this shortage.
Anyway aren’t wheelie bins made of plastic – and doesn’t it take huge amounts of oil to create plastic -does not sound very environment friendly to me – so maybe it’s a good thing after all. Swings and roundabouts spring to mind.
